NEW Château de Rhodes - Vendanges Tardives 2014 (sött vitt/sweet white)

Château de Rhodes is located in Gaillac in the Languedoc and crafts beautiful wines that reflect the ancient winemaking tradition of this southwestern region with its typical grape varieties and make the most of its distinctive hilly landscape. 

The vineyards are grown using organic farming methods and the work in the cellar focuses on expressing the specificity of the terroir.

Harvest is controlled by careful vineyard management: justified pruning, natural cover crops, careful thinning of shoots and thoughtful leaf removal.

Harvest takes place from the end of August for the ancestral method sparkling wine, until the end of October for this sweet wine "Vendanges Tardives" ("late harvest" in French).

Made from a majority of Loin de l'Œil, complemented with Mauzac and Muscadelle (typical grapes in the region with Loin de l'Oeil being the most fragrant) growing on the estate's oldest 60-year-old vines and harvested in end of October, as mentioned earlier, the 2014 vintage of this sweet wine offers the same aromatic notes of quince and apricot as his predecessors, the 2012  and 2013 vintages we have offered preciously, but once again in a nuanced version and with an emphasis on the apricot rather than on the quince.

Offering a fuller and longer mouth than the 2013 vintage without quite reaching the same impression of sweetness as the 2012 one, it features a certain airiness and lightness that was not found in either the 2012 nor 2013 versions and is reminiscent of certain Jurançon sweet wines. A very qualitative vintage and a very unique sweet Cuvée that should convert more people to this particular brand of wine.

A great wine to accompany desserts and festive dining during the Christmas season. 

Best served chilled around 8 to 10°C.
