Domaine Coustarret is located in the beautiful and lush Béarn region of France, nestled at an altitude of 380m against the Pyrénées mountain range. Besides its delicious and generous food tradition the region is also famous for its Jurançon white wines, both dry and sweet, made with the local white grapes: Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng.
Domaine Coustarret has been passed down for seven generations. Driven by the knowledge of his ancestors and the passion for his profession, winemaker Sébastien strives to highlight the unique typicity of Jurançon grapes.
Rigor, patience, observation allow the vine to produce the best fruits that will overflow with flavors and rare expressions. The vineyard has been officially certified as organic farming since 2020 and has respected biodynamic practices for 5 years.
Lu Barou is the first sweet wine from Coustarret we offer, and the first sweet Jurançon wine altogether, and it was about time. The sweet Jurançon wines are a staple of French wine culture and when coming from wine estates that express the authentic nature of Jurançon wines (look out for vineyard in the lush hills, not in the sun-drenched lowlands) they are some of the loveliest sweet wines there is: light, airy, fresh and full of unique and exotic flavours.
Lu Barou is one of these wines true to the best Jurançon sweet wine tradition. Its controlled sweetness, lightness and elegant fruitiness highlighted by hints of grilled notes will pair beautifully with, among others, fruity and frozen meringue desserts, light cheese and will bring a lovely final touch to your meals.
